It is sad to write about the demise of Mr SUNIT BHATTACHARYYA, at Kolkata on 28th September 2004.

He had served VS as Biology Master (1970 to 2001), Headmaster-in-charge (2001 to 2003) and had retired on 31st December 2003. He also taught biology in DH for a few years in the early 80s.

Anyone associated with VS for the last 30 years or so, would agree with me that he was a "true Victorian".

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.

Having met Sunit Bhattacharyya during our stay at VS in 2001, my wife Helma and I, would like to offer our most sincere condolences to Sunit's wife, Sumana, and to the Dow Hill and Victoria School communites.

As Devmani has already written, Sunit was a Gentleman - he was also a true Victorian.

Dear Devmani Sir.

Yes ! It was certainly sad hearing about the passing of your good friend and companion Mr Sunit Bhattacharyya, a "true Victorian" along with your goodself.

Please convey to his wife Sumana, the Boys and his colleagues at Victoria Boys School, my sympathy in their loss.

I have a vivid memory of meeting you two fine Gentleman, on a trip to VS when I was in the company of the Lady Miss Pradhan, Sally and John Stewart and my sister Shirley.

And then subsequently, being warmly welcomed by Mr Bhattacharyya at my last visit in the company of John and Helma Feltham,

I have fond memories of the time i spent in your company. I can remember meeting Sunit on his scooter and being a thorough gentleman as he was, he stopped to give way to the taxi we were travelling in.

I noticed in your missive that Sunit was not long retired before passing on and I am sure that you Devmani, are going to miss him, and as you have said "MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE" Condolences,

I just came to know that we lost two Victorians.

My heartfelt Condolences to all the Victorians and DH girls.

My husband Devmani used to communicate with George and he used to write about his days in VS and the hill top. It was great fun reading those long letters and the information we used to get. We have saved all his mails in the computer.May his soul rest in peace.

We also lost a great teacher of VS. For me he was a brother, teacher, friend and an idol. I will always cherish your memories and the days I worked with you Sunitda".
